WHAT IS FEAR?

Fear can mean the difference between staying on the trail, or getting off trail and starting an adventure!

Fear to me is False Expectations Appearing Real. Fear can mean the difference between staying on the trail, or getting off trail and starting an adventure! Throughout my season I ride/teach snowmobilers from all over the globe who face their fear by excepting what heading off trail means to them. The learning these riders do during their time here is what makes my job so fulfilling. Once a rider decides that he or she is going to rise to the challenges of being an off trail mountain rider they begin to unlock the inner bad ass in themselves! As this newly formed confidence rushes through them their riding ability takes on a new level of intensity. Along with these superpowers comes a new sense of surroundings and a respect for Mother Nature and its sometimes unruly consequences. In the end we produce a rider that has created an inner strength and has the ability and knowledge to put fear on the shelf and have an experience of a lifetime in the backcountry!

Remember before you head out there, never ride alone and be prepared! Ride safe, ride smart, ride often and ride to ride another day!

Its time to improve your AVY skills on and off the snow! Ask yourself, is my riding group ready and able to handle an avalanche search? Do they truly know how to use their AVY equipment? Can they do it efficiently when the seconds count? Be honest with yourself.

Join us, and bring your riding buddies for an avalanche skills workshop designed specifically for snowmobilers! World-renowned speaker and teacher Mike Duffy of avalanche1.com will be presenting this new workshop on Thursday January 19th, 2017 at TCSAR Hanger. Discussion topics will include: how not to get caught in an avalanche; daily routines; effective search techniques, searching by snowmobile, advanced rescue techniques; nine avalanche problems; recent avalanche stats; and reading the avalanche forecast. A Q&A with Mike Duffy and Dan Adams (Next Level Riding Clinics) will follow.

Space is limited in the workshop. Please register online  HERE  to secure your spot.

This workshop is brought to you by Teton County Search and Rescue, Backcountry Zero and Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center.
